Partner and President
Born and raised in Arlington, Texas, TJ Moore is a civil engineer who fell in love with land development. After getting his undergraduate degree in civil engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington, TJ worked for Graham Associates Engineering where he designed over 3,000 residential lots and several multifamily developments. He then decided to pursue a career in land development with David Weekley Homes. There he gained experience and cultivated his passion developing over 1,100 lots, specializing in high density urban infill. In early 2019, TJ created his own development company, ECM Development.
He currently serves on the City of Dallas comprehensive housing policy task force, the development process improvement committee, and the shared access development committee. He is an involved husband and father to four young children (Elijah Cole, Emelia Claire, Emerson Cade, and Eleanor Cynthia).
Robert “Bob” Kembel has introduced several notable projects to Dallas-Fort Worth, including the first Transit Oriented Development in North DFW and the master-planned community Viridian, one of the largest public/private partnerships in the region. Bob has a background in banking and worked as chief operating officer for McStain Enterprises and Denver Metro President for John Laing Homes before returning to Texas in 2004 as President of Huffines Management Partners. He is currently a partner and president of The Nehemiah Company since 2012. Bob is an accomplished glider pilot and private pilot. He enjoys backpacking and fly fishing, and has served on numerous local boards, including the Cotton Bowl Board, The Arlington Chamber of Commerce as its chairmen for two terms, and River Legacy Park Foundation. Bob is a pastor with Mission Arlington and the founder of the Nehemiah Builds Foundation working with inner city youth through the sport of wrestling.
Hailing from a small town in the Catskills of New York, Howard Porteus has spent his entire life in residential construction. Howard first worked professionally in Colorado, handling contracts for a real estate title company and then managing operations for a builder in Southern California. He came to Texas in 2007, teaming up with Nehemiah President Robert Kembel when they were both at Huffines Communities.
Howard manages all development activities within Viridian. During his career, Howard has been instrumental in the development of and/or delivery of 3,500 single-family homes, and more than 200 high-end condominiums and townhomes. Howard is a licensed pilot and an avid cyclist, and is very active in Mission Arlington’s wrestling program.
Nikki was raised in Arlington where she and T.J. met and started their lives together. She has spent most of her career in municipal government where she cultivated a deep desire to positively impact and serve communities. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in science from Texas Tech University and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Her experience and relationships in local government have prepared her to navigate the processes to appropriately zone and entitle our development projects. Nikki is passionate about organizational leadership and public service. She firmly believes that all people deserve equality in housing options and leads ECM’s development of high-quality attainable homes. More than anything, Nikki wants to impact people and integrate a sense of community and pride into the neighborhoods we develop.
As Managing Director, Wes is responsible for overseeing ECM’s Build to Rent business. Prior to joining ECM, Wes worked at David Weekley Homes as Land Acquisition Manager where he was responsible for site selection, land acquisition and design for over $467 MM in development. Before David Weekley Homes, Wes gained early career experience at Pulte Group in multiple roles including land acquisition, resource planning, sales and marketing, and purchasing.
Wes received his B.B.A. from the University of North Texas and his M.B.A. from Southern Methodist University. He is an active member of the Urban Land Institute and the Folsom Institute at SMU Cox School of Business. He and his wife, Kacee, live in Arlington, Texas and are the proud parents of one daughter.
Alex Beitler joined ECM Development in January 2020 and currently serves as Managing Director of single family lot development. Alex and her talented team are responsible for all stages of land development, including: acquisition, due diligence, pre-development, development, lot sales and community completion. This includes partnering closely with ECM’s skilled legal, engineering, design, and subcontractor partners. Alex works diligently to improve processes and communication to delight all project stakeholders. Prior to joining ECM, Alex gained project and team management experience through the various roles she held at GLG in Austin, TX.
Alex received a bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin. Outside of the office, Alex and her husband, Patrick, are often exploring new restaurants, enjoying live music, or cheering on the Texas Longhorns and Florida State Seminoles (respectively). She also enjoys volunteering within her church and community.
